The Days are Long, but the Years are Short

Now editing: On a brief hiatus!

Now drafting: Serial killer WIP - currently untitled

Now listening: Will Ramos of Lorna Shore covering Sleep Token (insert heart eyes emoji here)

Now reading: ARC copy of Storm of Ink and Blood by Nisha J. Tuli

Current Binge Watch: Law and Order: SVU

Back to school time hit here shortly after my last blog post, and I fell behind in jotting down words to share with y'all. Between finishing Mistress of Night (releasing November 26) and getting it to my editor for final edits, my kids starting school again, and my graduate courses starting up for the fall semester, I've barely been able to find time to breathe, let alone write a blog.

"Mama said there'd be days like this..."

I've been thinking a lot about how quickly time seems to pass as I grow older. As a teenager, the wait from one birthday to the next seemed to drag on forever. I was forced into patiently awaiting each upcoming milestone (driving, prom, college applications, etc.), though I longed to fly through them to reach adulthood.

Each year seems to go by faster and faster, leaving me in the dust in the constant shuffle of after school activities, work, editing, and writing. But the days are long, sometimes hard (*cough* Title of your sex tape), and so, so rewarding. I'm grateful to be living my dream - helping people by day, writing and editing by night, and sharing my stories with the world.

And hey, it's almost my birthday again - I'll be turning 39 this year.

Mistress of Night releases November 26, 2024

In honor of my birthday, please consider purchasing one (or all) of my books! I can truthfully tell you that there is nothing I want more than to know my stories are out in the world, being enjoyed by readers. Each time you purchase a book from me, I do a little happy dance as I package it up to send to you, and I swear, angels are singing (in Will Ramos' voice).

Thanks for choosing to spend a few minutes of your day with me again, reader.
